March Student of the Month
Jay Hufnagel has been named as the March Student of the Month for Henry-Senachwine High School. Jay is the son of Greg and Tara Hufnagel. Jay was selected from a group of students nominated by the faculty and staff. The selection committee consists of several high school teachers and the principal.
Jay has participated in many activities during his 4 years at HSHS including Student Council, FBLA, Math Team, Junior Prom Committee, Handbook Committee, 4-H, Relay for Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society and he served for 3 years as the Class President. He has also served the community with his over 300 hours of volunteer work.
Jay has earned Academic High Honors throughout his high school career and is in the Top Ten of the Class of 2018. He was selected to attend the HOBY Leadership Seminar and the USDA Student Researcher Program. He was most recently named an Illinois State Scholar.
Jay is currently a co-op student at Marquis Energy in Hennepin, Illinois. He plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and major in Construction Management.
Jay will be recognized at the March 21 School Board meeting. He will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Association and a personalized plaque from the school district. In addition, he will receive a $25 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $10 savings bond from the Henry Dairy Queen.
The student body, faculty, staff and community would like to congratulate Jay on receiving this honor in recognition of his accomplishments and contribution to Henry-Senachwine High School.
