February Student of the Month



August Lee has been named Henry-Senachwine High School Student of the Month for February, 2018. August is the son of Amy and Matt Lee of Putnam. August was selected from a group of students nominated by the faculty and staff. The selection committee consists of several high school teachers and the principal.

August has been a member of the Scholastic Bowl Team for the last three years and the Math Team the last two. August has made the High Honor Roll his entire high school career.

August is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He has also been a member of the Golf and Baseball Teams the past three years.

August is an active member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church and is very involved in their Youth Group. He also served as an Alter Boy for several years.

Most recently, August has been a mentor for the 4-H STEAM program that involves 5th – 8th grade students. He has worked with these students making rockets, building bridges, planting gardens, along with a variety of other educational projects.

August has been a Boy Scout since 5th grade, became an Eagle Scout during the 2015-2016 school year, and is an Elite Order of Arrow Member. For his Eagle Scout Project, August was instrumental in creating a memorial at St. John XXIII Catholic Church for St. Mary’s Catholic School.

August has been nominated to be a member of the National Honor Society. August is still undecided on which college he will attend, but has already chosen his major, Physics/Astrophysics.

August will be recognized at the February 21st, Board of Education Meeting at Henry-Senachwine High School. He will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Assoiciation and a personalized plaque from the school district. In addition, he will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $10.00 savings bond from the Henry Dairy Queen.

The student body, faculty and staff, and community would like to congratulate August on receiving this honor in recognition of his accomplishments and contribution to Henry-Senachwine High School!
