Class of 2017
On May 28, 2017, seniors and families participated in commencement exercises celebrating their hard work through the years. The day's commencement began with the Pledge of Allegiance given by Jordan Killen. Next, the Mallard Ensemble sand the National Anthem under the direction of Mr. Robert Eckert. Cecilia Lucente welcomed family and friends and thanked them for attending the day's festivities. Mr. Weston Wolven announced the Salutatorian, Ethan Lacey & Valedictorian, Jake Kennedy, and welcomed them to the podium to deliver their speeches. Students were then individually recognized during the ceremony; listing awards, scholarships, and intentions for their future. Jordan Beall, Josh Noe, and Damaris Fidler recognized the faculty, board, and retirees for their hard work and dedication to their education. After recognitions, Ethan Lacey & Payton Knisley were announced as the American Legion Award recipients. After the choir sang "Bring on Tomorrow" arranged by Greg Gilpin, Dr. Michael Miller announced the certification of the Class of 2017. The presentation of diplomas was conducted by the President of the Board of Education, Randy Witko. Closing remarks were given by Payton Knisley, wishing her classmates congratulations and a fond farewell. Students celebrated with the traditional silly string and recessional. HSHS staff and administration would like to wish the Class of 2017 best wishes in their future endeavors.
