April Student of the Month

April 2018 Student of the Month, Schuyler Hughes

 Schuyler Hughes has been named as the April Student of the Month for

Henry-Senachwine High School. Schuyler is the son of Brian and Sherry Hughes. Schuyler was selected from a group of students nominated by the faculty and staff. The selection committee consists of several high school teachers and the principal.

 Schuyler has participated in many activities during his 4 years at HSHS including Basketball, Baseball, Golf, Student Council, Class Officer, FBLA, FCCLA, Math Team, Red Krush, Relay for Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and National Honor Society.

Schuyler has been elected to the Tri-County All-Academic Team, earned Academic High Honors throughout his high school career and is in the Top Ten of the Class of 2018.  He was selected to attend the HOBY Leadership Seminar and Illinois Boys State.

In basketball over the last two years, Schuyler has been named to the All Tri-County Tournament Team, 1st and 2nd Team All Tri-County, and twice to the NewsTribune All-Area Basketball Team. In baseball, he was named to the NewsTribune All-Area Baseball Team.

Last semester, Schuyler received his A+ certification in computer repair and maintenance while taking classes at the LaSalle-Peru Area Career Center. Schuyler is currently taking Computer Programming and working towards his Microsoft MTA certification. He plans to attend college and major in Computer Science.

Schuyler will be recognized at the April 18th School Board meeting. He will be presented with an engraved pen set from the Henry-Senachwine Education Association and a personalized plaque from the school district. In addition, he will receive a $25 gift certificate from Heartland Bank in Henry and a $10 savings bond from the Henry Dairy Queen.

The student body, faculty, staff and community would like to congratulate Schuyler on receiving this honor in recognition of his accomplishments and contribution to Henry-Senachwine High School.
